Your 75-minute journey, step by step
Arrival & boarding
Arrive 10 minutes early at the Stromma Rijksmuseum pier on Stadhouderskade 520, right next to the Rijksmuseum. Our hosts welcome you aboard a heated, fully covered canal boat — comfortable in any weather.
Welcome drink
Settle into your seat with a complimentary welcome drink. Additional drinks and snacks are available on board (card payment only).
The headset
Each guest receives a VR headset and audio guide. The headset fits comfortably over regular glasses. Audio is available in English and Dutch.
The voyage begins
As the boat glides through Amsterdam's historic canals, the audio guide tells the story of the city. At 8 carefully chosen locations, you'll be invited to put on the headset — and step directly into 17th-century Amsterdam.
What you'll see in VR
A bustling morning market on the Herengracht. The harbour with hundreds of merchant ships. A shipyard building Amsterdam's fleet. The five-metre city wall at the edge of the old city. Warehouses, merchant homes, and street life from the 17th century — recreated from historical records and original maps.
Between the VR moments
Headset off, take in modern Amsterdam — the same canals, four centuries later. Enjoy the view, your drink, and the audio guide weaving past and present together.
Return
After 75 minutes, you'll return to the Stadhouderskade pier — and to today. The Rijksmuseum is a 2-minute walk away if you'd like to continue your journey on canvas.
